How are Veneers Placed on Teeth?

Happy patient

The placement of veneers on teeth is rather easy and can be done in just two or three dental visits. Our cosmetic dentists in Los Angeles are able to provide more detail at a consultation, but the general steps for receiving them are these.
The first step is to prepare the teeth. Although veneers are very thin, applying them directly to the surface of teeth would cause the teeth to look too thick and unnatural. Therefore, a very thin layer of enamel must be removed first. This is done with local anesthesia and will take a bit of time. Once the front enamel has been removed from the front of all the teeth receiving them, a bite impression is then taken. This will be sent to a lab to produce the veneers specifically for each of the teeth. The first appointment is done at that point.

At the second appointment, which is usually a week or two later, the teeth are finely etched to help create a solid surface to which the veneers will attach. At last, a dental cement will be applied to the teeth and the veneers applied to that. Finally, the veneers will be adjusted to make sure they look completely natural.
